Leadership Experience
The Leadership Experience is an opportunity for mature, experienced students (ages 15 or older) to develop life skills that will help them become successful adults. The teens live and work at Broken Arrow Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for three weeks. The leadership program focuses on high adventure activities such as rock climbing and white water kayaking.
In addition, our students gather with other guest students for a multi-day social justice workshop at Broken Arrow Ranch facilitated by “Facing History and Ourselves.” Guest students include youth from the Wyoming Indian School and Horizons at Colorado Academy from Devner, Colorado. Students explore historical and current issues of prejudice and they learn how to improve relations within their communities.
Program objectives include:
- Gaining greater independence in the outdoors
- Acquiring advanced technical skills
- Achieving higher order needs such as self-esteem and self-actualization
