Camper Memories

Tyree Moore — 4th Year StudentComing to City Kids as a Leadership, I didn't know what to expect. But as soon as we began our Facing History classes, I soon began to realize that we were out here to not only challenge ourselves physically but also mentally. The kids from the Wyoming Indian School taught me so much about them that I began to notice that we have much more in common with each other than we have different. I began to think that they were other kids from D.C. that went to the camp as well. |
Shocata Brown — 2nd Year StudentI’m proud of myself and everyone. Even though the backpack was almost as big as me, I carried it. I thank all the staff on the trip. Also, when we got to the top, I saw good views of the mountains. The clouds were so close I wanted to touch them. City Kids is the best! Hopefully next year I’ll be Elite! I overcame a big challenge and I’ll be back next year! |

Daryn Marly — 4th Year StudentI will never forget about when I went horseback riding with City Kids. Also, when I hiked Brunsen Peak and when I went whitewater rafting, these were some of the things I will never forget but I still have a lot more things that I have to tell you. I thought I was never going to do all this cool stuff when I was in Washington, but when I came to Wyoming, I found that I can do it. We went canoeing, hiking, and it was hard, but I got through everything that was tough for me. I know that I can do it and the most important thing was that I got to make a lot of new friends. The two things I liked best about this trip is that I got to try new things and meet new people. Also, I never thought that I would spend 3 weeks in Wyoming. Everything was just so amazing. |
Raquan Gentry — 1st Year StudentOther campers that I never knew helped me or became my friend. I got a chance to make good friends. Other people may have made conflicts in a new environment, but I learned how to solve problems without starting one of ending in a bad manner. Here at City Kids, I learned a lot about the outdoors. I cannot wait to get back home because when I get there I will show people the new things that I know. Before, I did not know how to start a fire or even to find good wood. All I needed was to be here with City Kids because they taught me everything I needed to know about wildlife. |
